Keck's Exclusives: New Season 4 Secrets

*SPOILERS* William Keck from TV Guide gives us some awesome teases for the upcoming season of Vampire Diaries. Please click here for full article.

Early in the season, newly-turned vampire Elena will have what Plec calls her "first hot vampire sex" with either Damon, Stefan, Klaus, Matt or Elijah. A possible clue as to who the lucky guy is? "Elena saved Matt's life, so he's going to end up paying it forward in a very peculiar way." Dobrev's reaction to the action: "It's like she's going through puberty and vampire sex is going to feel like her first time."

Season 4 Premiere Episode Title Revealed!

Thanks to the always lovely Robyn Ross from TV Guide we know the title of season 4 premiere episode of The Vampire Diaries. "Growing Pains" will kick off the season that is sure to be full of heartache, drama, romance, and hopefully amazing Klefan scenes.
"Growing Pains" may also refer to the fact that our Mystic Falls gang is heading into their senior year. Although they've seen more death, devastation and destruction that most in their 18 years, they're still plenty of "normal" high school struggles to go through as they reach a big milestone in their lives.

Grace Phipps Joins The Vampire Diaries Cast

News broke yesterday that the role of 'April' had been cast. Nine Lives of Chloe King actress, Grace Phipps, will join the cast this season as a girl who has history with both Elena and Jeremy. 'April' will be a 16 year old girl who returns home from private school after her father passes away. She will make her first appearance in the second episode. Phipps is the second new actor to join The Vampire Diaries for the 4th season. It's been previously reported that actor Todd Williams will also have a recurring role as a vampire hunter. Since we know Williams' character will be no friend to the Salvatores, one has to wonder if April is somehow connected to this new threat.

Michael Trevino says, "There's no British accent that I'm trying at all." (VIDEO)

As you know, I interviewed the cast of The Vampire Diaries last weekend in San Diego while they were in town for 2012 Comic-Con. Lucky girl that I am, I got the opportunity to talked to both Zach Roerig and Michael Trevino at the same time. It was great seeing how these two interact with one another. So in tuned, these two can even answer each other's questions.

When we last saw Michael Trevino and Zach Roerig's characters on The Vampire Diaries, the both had met tragic ends. Roerig's 'Matt Donovan' had crashed his truck into the lake, and nearly drowned. Trevino's 'Tyler Lockwood' had "died" when Original vampire Klaus was staked. Later we discover that Tyler didn't die, but Klaus had hijacked his body. In the video above, Zach Roerig discusses how Michael Trevino plans to play Klaus (pretending to play Tyler) in the up-coming season. Michael said:

"I'd like to play it (Klaus) for a while, but I don't think I'll be able to play it for long, but I'm having fun with it."

Many want to know how Stefan will deal with Elena's "death," but what about the guy trapped in the car with her? Zach Roerig was asked about how Matt will feel when he realizes Elena, not only died in the car, but now will become a vampire. Zach had a lot to say about this, and said "I think season 4 is going to be about Matt trying to outgrow this guilt he has over Elena sacrificing her life so he could live his." Since Rebekah was the one who caused their fatal car accident, we wondered if Matt could forgiver her long enough to take her out on a date. In typical guy fashion, Zach replied,  "She wrecked his truck. I think you all know how he feels about his truck."

While we're talking about rekindling broken relationships, Zach expressed his desire for Matt and Tyler to be brothers again.
"I'd love to see Matt & Tyler rekindle their male bonding. As far as the Mystery Machine Gang of Mystic Falls, you have these two vampire brothers, the original Mystic Falls boys. But these two (Matt and Tyler) basically keep falling out. Mostly over women."

Despite their differences, Zach said we will see a grieving Matt when the show picks up this fall. As far as Matt knows, both Elena and Tyler have died. Even though Elena comes back, Tyler doesn't. Matt will be grieving for the loss of his best friend.

Before the boys had to leave, we asked them what were their favorite scenes thus far. Michael said that he favors the big group scenes where everyone is together. Most of season two, Michael only worked with Candice (Caroline) and Joseph (Klaus), so it was nice to be in a scene where he got to work with the rest of the cast. His favorite season 3 scene is the big group scene in "Before Sunset," when everyone hangs out in the Gilbert Kitchen.

Since we know Joseph Morgan won't be away long, Michael's dream of playing Klaus for a while is just that, a dream. I am curious myself to see what Michael does with the character. Considering he fooled most people in the season 3 finale, I think he'll do a bang-up job. As for Zach, I'm happy that it sounds like he'll be getting more screen time this season.

2012 Comic-Con Interview with Paul Wesley - Bromance, Romance, and Alcoholism

Ian Somerhalder has said that he's tired of Damon pining for Elena, and Paul Wesley feels the same way. "I don't want Stefan crying over Elena. No crying!" This was one of the things Paul confessed when I interviewed him at Comic Con in San Diego, CA on Friday, July 14, 2012.

It's no secret Paul prefers playing the darker side of Stefan Salvatore, so he has a lot to say on this subject. When asked if Ripper Stefan would return, Paul didn't think so, but he's holding out hope. He added, "I think Stefan had his whole dark ride in season 3." By the end of last season, Stefan seemed to be putting the pieces of his life back together, but then the unthinkable happened. The love of his life, Elena Gilbert, died and is in the process of becoming a vampire.  Paul says that the guilt of Elena's "death" will weighing heavily on Stefan when The Vampire Diaries returns this October.

Julie Plec admits, "We definitely take liberties with the books." (VIDEO)

In arguably one of the most controversial scenes of the series, when Elena and Matt Donovan crashed off of Wickery Bridge and sunk to the bottom of the lake, Stefan came to the rescue. With only seconds to spare, per Elena's suggestion, Stefan dragged Matt to safety, and Elena drowned. When asked about Stefan will fell, Paul joked, "It just goes to show you never listen to what a woman wants." Realizing he may get slapped once his wife (Torrey DeVitto, Meredith) reads that comment on Twitter, Paul tried to clean it up by saying:

"I'm conflicted as a viewer watching that scene. We find out later Stefan never intended for her to die. He was making the decision to save Matt first, and then came back to get her. Why he didn't grab them both is besides the point."
Fans know that Paul was not happy with Stefan's choice. In fact, he says he would have chosen Elena if he (Paul) was in that situation. But he also admits that that is why Stefan is a hero.

Steven R. McQueen, "Jeremy's last family member has died."

Since Paul knows Stefan will be heading towards the good next season, he's hoping that Stefan will retain some of his Ripper bad-assness. If he can't be a dark knight, Paul hopes Stefan can be somewhere in the gray. What I wanted to know is if Stefan's guilt will cause him to fall off the wagon. Paul was ecstatic that I got what he was trying to say. His response:

"That's what I'm saying, I swear to God! That's where my head goes, ok? My head goes, "Oh my God, I can't believe I did this," and like an alcoholic picking up a bottle, and going right back to it. Like, that's how I see it, but I'm not sure that's how everyone else sees it."

Stefan won't be the only one with strong feelings about Elena's new status. Damon will be very upset with his baby brother, and the two will butt heads. Paul is a little sad over this development. He says, "I like it when they (Stefan and Damon) bond. I like it when they're buddies. I enjoy that." Since a new vampire hunter will hit Mystic Falls around the second episode, Paul believes this new adversary will allow the brothers to bury the hatchet, and team up.

Ian Somerhalder reveals, "It's not going to be easy for Damon."

Since Paul is tired of Stefan crying over Elena, he does have some ideas on what should happen in Stefan's love life. For one, he hopes that Stefan and Klaus can rekindle their bromance. "I'd love Stefan and Klaus to be buddies, too. BROMANCE! I like that. I think the idea of the two of them bro-ing out," Wesley said. During the interview, someone suggested that maybe Stefan could be Elena's mentor like he was Caroline's. Wesley shot this idea down.

"I don't want to be Elena's mentor. I want to show her the dark dangers of being a vampire. I think it could be really eventful if they, like, embrace it, rather than fight it, and go on this wild adventure together. I think that would be way more interesting, and exciting for viewers."

The Vampire Diaries  returns to the CW Network on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 8PM EST

Julie Plec admits, "We definitely take liberties with the books." (VIDEO)

This past weekend I had the opportunity to interview executive producer of The Vampire Diaries, Julie Plec about what fans should expect when the show returns this fall. One of the questions that has been on everyone's minds is when the writers decided to "kill" Elena, and turn her into a vampire. Julie revealed that they had originally planned to kill Elena in the season 2 finale, but it felt too soon. Instead, the writers began season 3 knowing Elena needed to die in the season finale. Take a look at the video below to see what else Julie revealed about season 4.

Ian Somerhalder reveals, "It's not going to be easy for Damon."

Ian Somerhalder at 2012 San Diego Comic Con on July 14, 2012
The cast of The Vampire Diaries invaded San Diego Saturday, and fans got a treat this year. Not only did the cast do a traditional panel, but Warner Bros. held another at their pavilion, since not everyone would be able to get into the convention center. This year at San Diego Comic Con, I got the opportunity to talk to Ian Somerhalder about Damon's state of mind when The Vampire Diaries returns this October.
The Vampire Diaries' 2012 San Diego Comic-Con Promo (Season 4)
Damon has suffered some major loses. First, his best friend dies, and then the woman he loves turns into a vampire. I wondered how Damon would cope with his grief, and if he'd ever be able to let someone else into his heart. Ian replied, "I think it's going to be hard for Damon to let anyone in, because he's at this stage where he's like you people are idiots." Both losses will be hard for Damon, but Elena being born into the world of the undead means she'll still be around. Alaric, on the other hand, wasn't so lucky. Ian believes Alaric's death will be the hardest on Damon.
"I think it's not going to be easy for Damon. The loss of a great friend is not easy, and I don't think Damon will be the exception to the rule. They had a full-on bromance, and even though Damon was a complete a$$hole sometimes, this was his only friend in the world."
Damon wasn't the only one affected by Alaric's death. Ian was also, since Alaric's dying signaled Matt Davis' departure from the hit show. "It's really very strange not having Matt Davis on set. We miss him," he says. I personally believe the feeling is mutual. Earlier during the panel, someone sounding very much like Mr. Davis screamed, "I LOVE YOU!" to Ian. Aww... Team Blood n' Beer lives on, even if we don't get to see it on a weekly basis. Ian also revealed that Damon will be pissed off that Stefan chose to save Matt instead of Elena, stating "When someone is 18, and they want to die, you don't let them." Despite the brothers' differences, Ian believes they will be able to relate to what Elena is going through having been through it themselves. That's a good thing since Ian believes Stefan would be the winner in a Stefan/Damon smack-down. "I think Stefan is one of those closeted freaks who could just rip every limb from your body," Ian replies. Many fans will have reason to rejoice, because it looks like Damon will be back to his bad boy ways. "In season 1 and 2, he (Damon) has done everything they've wanted him to do, and it didn't work. He's basically saying now, "This is who I am. If you don't like me, then go f*ck yourself." I don't know about you, but I'm glad we won't be seeing a pining Damon this upcoming season. If you've read my recaps, then you already know I'm not a fan of sad-sack Damon. It's good to know he'll have a better sense of self-worth.

For all you Stelena fans, good news! Ian suspects there will be a lot of hot vamp sex between Stefan and Elena now that she's turned. Still, that doesn't mean he's not holding out hope that Elena will give Damon a shot down the road. In fact, he finds it kind of tragic that Damon compelled Elena to forget his selfless act of wishing her well, only to fall in love with her later. Too bad there's no rewind on life. As for Elena's compulsion wearing off, Ian said, "I think it adds a very interesting layer (to the story)."

During the interview, Ian also revealed his fantasy guest star list. First up, Kevin Bacon. Besides being a fan of the veteran actor's work, it seems Ian had Kevin Bacon on his mind as the two have constantly run into each other during the convention. Jokingly, Ian said, "It's like Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon." Ian would also love to have Clint Eastwood guest star. The Vampire Diaries returns this October 11th at 8pm, followed by the new series Beauty and the Beast. Matt Davis' new show, Cult, will air mid-season on the CW, and will run for 13 episodes. As for The Vampire Diaries season 3 DVD, that will be released on Tuesday, September 11th.

Ian Somerhalder Auctions Lunch Date for Charity

Have you ever wanted to hang out with The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder? Well now you can have the chance!

“I’m so tired of the lack of compassion in our world and watching kids grow up in it. I think it’s an amazing opportunity for us to show that having compassion for one another — and all furry, scaled, or feathered creatures — is the only way we can progress.”

Ian is auctioning off a lunch date with him all in the name of charity. Entertainment Weekly reports that Charitybuzz is hosting the action on behalf of the Ian Somerhalder Foudation. The highest bidder will get the opportunity to lunch with Mr. Somerhalder in Atlanta, and the auction proceeds will benefit an animal sanctuary. If you have been on Twitter any time in the last few months, then you are aware that Ian and ISF have been interested in opening an animal sanctuary to assist neglected and abused animals. For those interested in placing a bid, click here
