Previously on The Vampire Diaries...
It's been a long hiatus, but we hung in there. Just to refresh your memory, let me remind you where we left off.
- Elena gave ultimatums.
- Damon threw a tantrum.
- Klaus owned EVERYBODY!!
- Stefan proved he really is a BAMF.
Sweet dreams are made of these
Bonnie dreams Klaus' family are in the Haunted Witch House, and is wearing some sweet boots. She wakes, and is confused. I guess that's what happens when no one ever tells you anything.
Elena Warrior Princess is still training. I guess you really do need more than one episode to get in shape. Hear that New Year's Resolution folks? While running Elena believes she is being chased by someone, and tries to run away. Believing she's given her pursuer the slip, Elena slows to catch her breath, but bumps into the stalker. How did he get from behind her to in front of her? I smell a hybrid!
Bonnie and Elena hang out at the Grill to compare notes. Bon is suffering a major wiggins over her witchy dream, and Elena is paranoid. She thinks Klaus is waiting for her around every corner. I wonder why. It's not like she daggered his baby sister, or anything. Oh, wait...
Klausagedon
Meanwhile... Damon is having a Sea Breeze at the bar, and trying to get Alaric to join him. I guess peer pressure exists at all ages. Sorry Teens! Alaric isn't having it though. He's going to actually grade papers, dammit! Besides, he's waiting for Jeremy to show up (an hour late) for work so he can berate him for cheating on his midterm. Luckily, for Jeremy, the bar maid tells them that Jer Bear was fired last week. Oops! Since their lives are going to hell in a hand basket, Damon thinks Alaric should give in to the vodka, and ride out Klausagedon.
After Bonnie leaves, Elena goes to cry on Damon's shoulder, but he's too tipsy. They flirt, and then Klaus comes around the corner. Guess she wasn't paranoid after all, because the stalker is Klaus' new hybrid, Tony. Klaus fills Delena in on Stefan's shenanigans, and attempts to recruit them to find his family through threats and terror.
When neither are willing to help him (or Stefan), Klaus follows Damon home. They drink, and bond over Stefan hatred. Klaus asks after Rebekah. After eyesexing each other for a spell over some vervain-laced bourbon (Good one, Damon!), Klaus threatens some more. You know, the usual.
Wondering if her dreams are prophetic, Bonnie heads to the Haunted Witch House. No coffins, but a hot-ass Mr. Stefan Salvatore is in the basement. Yowza! *fans self* Anywho! Stefan wants Bon's help with hiding Klaus' coffins.
Well, Bonnie sucks at keeping secrets.

Damon and Elena go to the Haunted Witch House to confront Stefan. The witches are still mad at Damon so he has to wait outside while Elena goes to talk to Stef. Stefan basically tells her that it's not his problem if Klaus kills Jeremy. After that slap Elena gave him, I think she may be ready to switch Salvatores.
An eavesdropping Damon sends Elena home, and tries his hand at dealing with Stefan. They fight. They argue. Stefan reveals he betrayed them to save Damon's life. Damon stakes Stefan repeatedly. Finally, Damon partners with his baby bro under the condition that Elena never knows they joined forces. Or that Klaus' family is hidden in the basement with some kind of concealment spell.
Yo, Ty, come in!
While everyone at the Grill is playing Where's Jeremy, Jer is in the woods going all Jeremy the Vampire Slayer on a drunk Tyler. Can hybrids get drunk? Ty is cool with it, since Jeremy would need to chop his head of in order to actually kill him. Foreshadowing?
When Jer returns home, Alaric and Elena lay into him for his bizarre (?) behavior. Their concern only deepens when they discover he's been hanging with Tyler. Since they don't want him leaving before their family dinner, Jeremy invites Tyler in. Jer is headed down a dangerous path!
The Gilbert/Saltzmans invite Tyler for dinner, then grill him on the complexities of siring. I have no idea what the difference between siring and compulsion is even after Tyler's explanation, and I doubt he does, either. After he leaves in a huff, Jeremy goes to play in traffic. Turns out he got a call from Klaus who compelled him to kill himself. Alaric saves the day, and nearly loses his life. That Tony is a horrible driver!
If you build it, they will come
Klaus is building a home for he and his family. I guess he wasn't lying when he told Delena that he wanted to settle down in Mystic Falls. When Tyler joins the other hybrids, he learns what happened after he left Jeremy's, and is not pleased. Yeah he stole Jeremy's vervain bracelet, but he never thought Klaus would kill him. o_O
Jeremy and Elena bring Alaric into the house to wait for his ring to revive him. Afterwards, Jer takes off to confront Tyler who warns him Klaus will come after him again. Elena returns to a resurrected Alaric. His ring revived him, but didn't fix his internal bleeding. The ambulance comes, but the men are compelled to leave by Tony the Hybrid. He wants Elena to invite him in the house in exchange for his blood. Sadly (not), Jeremy returns with his crossbow, stakes Tony, and chops his head off. Go on Van Helsing with your bad self! RIP - Tony the Hybrid

Elena makes a deal with Klaus. She doesn't know where his family is, but she'll give him Rebekah. She fills him in on the fact that she staked Rebekah, and Bex will be angry when she wakes. Not only at Elena's betrayal, but at Klaus for killing their mother. He agrees to keep Rebekah on a leash, and will spare Jeremy's life. However, he will not spare anyone else, and still will kill to get the remainder of his family.
After Elena returns home, She and Damon have a moment. She feels responsible for Jeremy having to decapitate someone. She also reveals her deal with Klaus. Damon isn't happy. He talks around his convo with Stefan.
Jeremy is shell-shocked by everything that has happened to him. Alaric and Elena ask Damon to compel Jeremy for his own good. He's going to live in a homeless shelter with family in Seattle.
Stefan tells Bonnie that he can't open the 5th coffin. In her dream, that coffin held Klaus' body. She believes that the key to killing him lies within. Unfortunately, it's locked with a spell.

Klaus apologizes to his undaggered sister for all the dirt he's done, but knows he can't let her wake up now that she's clued in to his biggest secret, and re-daggers her. Sleep tight, little sister.
Questions, comments, concerns...
- Tony
iswas cute! - Is it just me, or where the boots Bonnie was wearing in the dream different from the one's she actually wore to the Haunted Witch House?
- Damon lacing his bourbon with vervain has to be the smartest thing he's done in a long time.
- How many lives are available with the Resurrection Ring? I predict 9. If so, Alaric's time is almost out.
- "None of us are going to make it out of this town alive." - Jeremy Gilbert
- Why don't the witches attack Stefan when he enters the Haunted Witch House?
- What exactly did Damon do to the witches to make them hate him so? I believe it's somehow connected to Emily. FLASHBACK!!
- Since Dr. Fell is the long anticipated Meredith, does that mean Torrey DeVitto will be staying a while?
- "You're going to leave Mystic Falls and not think twice about it. You're going to have a better life, Jeremy." -Damon Salvatore
- Bon Voyage, Jeremy Gilbert.
Well that's it for this week folks! Tune in next week for episode 11, "Our Town." Who's the better villain? Stefan or Damon? Check out the US & Canadian promos below!
