Elena Realizes Dark Choices Need to be Made

TV Guide's Robyn Ross recently interviewed Julie Plec about The Vampire Diaries return next Thursday. Julie revealed new information about Elena, her feeling for the Salvatores, and revenge. Click here for the entire interview.

"Elena realizes that in order to survive and in order to protect the people she loves the most, sometimes she has to behave more like Katherine than Elena, and sometimes a dark choice needs to be made, a violent act needs to be enacted and it's troubling for her," Plec says. "So who is she really at her core? She's clearly not the girl-next-door do-gooder, she never has been."

TV Overmind Previews "Our Town"

 Courtesy of the CW

Next week will mark the long awaited return of The Vampire Diaries after a 2 month hiatus. The first episode, airing January 5th, is titled "Our Town." The CW sent out screeners earlier this week for review, and TV Overmind has written up a few juicy tidbits. Spoilers! Click here to read more.

Jeremy's Gone Rogue: Jeremy's gotten a little unstable since he was forced to give up Anna and his relationship with Bonnie ended. Alaric is concerned because he's been cheating in school and both he and Elena are surprised when they learn he was fired from the Grill.  He's been spending his down-time hanging out with Tyler, which his family isn't too pleased about.  But Jeremy hasn't lost all his reason and quickly catches on to what's happening in Mystic Falls.  This new, more proactive Jeremy is even armed with a cross-bow and a really big knife.

Foreshadowing?:  Jeremy angrily declares what may turn out to be true.  After they all become aware of the lengths Klaus will go to in order to retrieve his family members, Jeremy wisely suggests they skip town. "None of us are gonna make it out of this town alive", he concludes.  One has to wonder whether that will turn out to be true in the end.  With The Vampire Diaries, you never know.

Your fans would love to see you in a movie, do you think they will get this chance soon?
Ian: "Let's hope so! Every film that I'm lucky enough to be a part of teaches me something along the way. As I explore the layers and connective tissue of each new character, I am diving deeper into my own subconscious and finding out more about myself. For that exploration alongside the incredible relationships and experiences that take place with filmmaking, I would be more than happy for my fans to see me in a movie super soon!"

New Tyler, Caroline, and Bonnie Scoop!

Zap2It continues this week with more Vampire Diaries spoilers from executive producer Julie Plec. What will happen with Tyler and Caroline now that they seem to have broken up? How will Bonnie handle her mom returning to Mystic Falls? Click here to read the entire interview.

"He's got Klaus whispering in his ear saying 'I need you to do this for me. You need to 'serve your master,'" Julie explains. "Tyler is in a very, very bad situation that almost has catastrophic consequences. It's going to take him a while to earn his way back into the good graces of our heroes, his friends, and Caroline."

"I can't give away too much in terms of the catalyst that brings them together and in terms of the mythology," Julie says. "But I'll say that emotionally, Bonnie needs a touchstone that is disconnected from this vampire life. She finds that in the mother who, as we'll learn, abandoned her a long, long time ago -- and abandoned being a witch, too. There's some great conflict there, and we're just scratching the surface right now, but I'm very excited to dig into it."

WetPaint Interviews Torrey DeVitto About New Vampire Diaries Role

As you already know, Torrey DeVitto will guest on upcoming episodes of The Vampire Diaries when the hiatus returns. WetPaint interviewed the actress  about working on the show, her musical talent, and doing charitable works with her husband Paul Wesley. Click here to read the entire interview.

Is Mary a rebound for Alaric or do things get serious between them?
For my character’s sake I hope it’s more serious. But you never know. Obviously I’ve watched the show here and there, so when I came on I did hear about all the horrible things that had happened [to Alaric’s girlfriends]. It’s kind of like, this poor guy. I hope that it’s more than just a rebound because it sounds like he needs something that actually lasts for a little bit and doesn’t end so tragically. You have to feel bad for him a little bit.

Tough Times Ahead for Two of Our Favorite Vampire Diaries Couples

Courtesy of Jen0007

Zap2It interviewed Julie Plec about what two of our favorite couples on The Vampire Diaries will get on to when the show returns in 2012. Not only did Julie tease some Damon/Elena goodies, but she also teased a Klaus/Stefan pissing contest. Click here to read the interview.

"When we come back in Episode 10, Elena and Damon are finding themselves in these moments where the romantic tension is a little bit deeper and the physical tension is a little bit hotter," Julie teases.

"We have not seen the worst of Klaus. We also have not seen the worst of Stefan taking on Klaus," Julie tells us. "One of the fun things we're doing when we come back in January is taking the pissing contest -- I guess that's the best term for it -- between Stefan and Klaus to a whole other level. Watching these powerful characters and these powerful actors go head-to-head is going to be awesome."

Paul Wesley Dishes Klaus with EW

Entertainment Weekly interviewed Paul Wesley about what will happen when The Vampire Diaries returns on January 5th. Paul was tight-lipped about storylines, but did give his opinion on Klaus. Click here to read more.

“I don’t think Klaus is in any danger of ever becoming a good guy,” he tells EW. He will either stick around as a villain for quite a while or he’ll be sent out with a big bang. I don’t think we’ll ever convert Klaus into like one of the guys in Mystic Falls who works at the Mystic Grill flipping burgers. That would be a big mistake. He needs to be that big dark entity.”

Joseph Morgan Makes Top 50 in MTV's Top 2011 TV Characters

With the end of the year fast approaching, MTV made a list of their Top 2011 TV Characters. Coming in at #27 is Joseph Morgan's Klaus. Click here to see the other winners.

27. Klaus ("The Vampire Diaries")
The vilest of all vampires, Klaus had been nothing more than a whispered foe until he made his big, bad debut on the CW's "Vampire Diaries" earlier this year. The hybrid (he's half bloodsucker and half wolf) is nearly impossible to kill, and we've got to believe he's used his nefarious powers of compulsion on us, because we certainly didn't expect to find him so ... appealing. Klaus (played by Joseph Morgan) is the quintessential emotionally battered bad boy (daddy issues!) who girls can't help but find utterly irresistible. It doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes (if not the carotid) either. -Amy Wilkinson

Why Won't The Vampire Diaries be Considered Come Awards Season?

TV Guide's Matt Roush gives his opinion on why he believes The Vampire Diaries is often overlooked during awards season.

Matt Roush: I like Vampire Diaries and probably give it more consideration than many critics do... and I do appreciate its breakneck (often literally) pace and what-next plotting. But this is one of those shows I classify as more of a "guilty pleasure," and while I can enjoy the over-the-top twists and turns, it just doesn't feel serious enough as a supernatural drama for me to take it terribly seriously. There is a CW factor at play here as well, I'm sure, because we're being asked to believe these characters are still in high school, plus the various authority figures are so shallow, and Mystic Falls seems to have at least one major social event every week where someone ends up dead or missing. True Blood is just as campy, and though I felt it had its best season this year since the first, it's not really Top 10 material, either. Click here to read more...

SPOILER: Who's Birthday is Next?

Courtesy of FYeah Caroline Forbes

Entertainment Weekly gave the scoop on Ms. Caroline Forbes' birthday bash that of course doesn't go quite as planned. How does a vampire celebrate her 18th birthday? Click here to read more spoilers for your favorite show. Highlight to reveal!

Can you give me any scoop about Caroline on The Vampire Diaries? — Amy
Boy can I. It looks like Elena isn’t the only person who’ll be celebrating a birthday on-screen this year. Executive producer extraordinaire Julie Plec recently dished to EW about the second half of the season, which will find Caroline celebrating her 18th birthday — but there’s one small issue. She’s technically not aging anymore, leaving Caroline experiencing a bit of a “teenage life crisis.” “She says ‘I couldn’t wait to be 18. Seventeen is a filler year. I’m stuck in a filler year for the rest of eternity,’” says Plec. “She’s just starting to question what her life is gonna be as a vampire and kinda mourning the loss of her relationship with Tyler and feeling kind of unsettled and a little sad. And for Caroline to be sad, especially when there’s a party to be had, makes Elena and Matt and Bonnie realize they need to do something nice for her to kind of get her out of her funk, and they give her a very unconventional, untraditional birthday.” Fun, right? Erm… maybe not. “As things tend to happen in our show, things go terribly, terribly wrong,” Plec adds with a laugh.
