CW Fall Schedule and Vampire Diaries Season 3 Summary (Joseph Morgan Now Series Regular)

According to CW press release, Vampire Diaries will remain in 8pm EST time slot and new series The Secret Circle will follow. Also of notable interest, Joseph Morgan aka Klaus is listed as a series regular. Check out press release below:

8:00-9:00 P.M. “THE VAMPIRE DIARIES”

Based on the best-selling book series, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is the story of two vampire brothers, obsessed with the same gorgeous girl, who are battling to control the fate of an entire town. In season one, Stefan and Damon Salvatore returned to their hometown of Mystic Falls, Virginia, for very different reasons. Stefan was determined to get to know Elena Gilbert, who bears a striking resemblance to Katherine Pierce, the beautiful but ruthless vampire the brothers knew and loved — in 1864. Damon, on the other hand, was intent on releasing Katherine from the tomb where he believed she was trapped by a witch's spell all those years ago. In the explosive season finale, Elena's uncle set a plan in motion that saw the return of the vengeful Katherine Pierce. In season two, Katherine's appearance and her precise manipulation threw a wrench into the love triangle between Stefan, Elena and Damon, and the other residents of Mystic Falls were forced to choose sides as they fell victim to a new breed of danger. Stefan and Damon were later met with their greatest challenge yet — the arrivals of Elijah and Klaus, two of the “original” vampires. As Klaus goes head to head with Damon and takes a special interest in Stefan, he is also seemingly focused on breaking the “Sun and Moon” curse by sacrificing Elena. Yet no matter what action the brothers take to protect Elena, Klaus won’t be swayed from his mission, proving to be the most powerful vampire in existence. Season three opens the door to learn more about Klaus and The Original Family as his motives for wanting Stefan on his side are finally revealed. As Stefan sinks deeper into the dark side, Damon and Elena struggle with the guilt of their growing bond even as they work together to bring Stefan back from the edge. The ghosts from Jeremy’s past have a powerful message they’re trying to deliver to him, not to mention the impact they’re having on his relationship with Bonnie. And as Caroline and Tyler grow closer, a war erupts between their families. The series stars Nina Dobrev as Elena Gilbert, Paul Wesley as Stefan Salvatore, Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore, Steven R. McQueen as Jeremy Gilbert, Kat Graham as Bonnie Bennett, Candice Accola as Caroline Forbes, Zach Roerig as Matt Donovan, Michael Trevino as Tyler Lockwood, Matt Davis as Alaric Saltzman and Joseph Morgan as Klaus.

Malese Jow Talks to Hollywood Crush About Return to Vampire Diaries "It was a huge shock and it took a few days to set in. "

The return of Malese Jow and Kayla Ewell makes season 3 a lot more interesting. She talked with MTV Hollywood Crush about keeping it a secret and more. Read full interview here.

In this age of rampant spoilers, were extra precautions taken to keep your return a secret?

Definitely. The show is all about twists and turns. I mean, they rely on that and that is why they're so successful. So right after my manager told me it was "The Vampire Diaries" he went into the whole speech of do not say anything on the internet, don't hint at anything, which was really hard for me because I love my Team Anna fans. And then I knew immediately they would freak out, but the secret was well worth it. I'm so glad it was kept under wraps because it just made the shock a million times more amazing and effective.

Do we know 100 percent that these girls are ghosts?

They could be anything. Everything is up in the air. I know Kevin and Julie will not disappoint because we're getting into interesting territory... It's a big soap opera.

IHTVD RECAP + LINK: "As I Lay Dying" by Danielle DuCré

Gone with the wind.
The movie. The parental figures. The obligation to attend school.

Two days after burying Jenna and John, Elena stares at a sleeping Jeremy as she contemplates how to make the rest of their lives work. Damon approaches and apologizes for force feeding her his blood. "I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I need it." One day she'll forgive him; today's just not that day.
"What's the plan, Superman?"
Damon is distraught. And suicidal. Leaving the Gilbert residence after his attempt to make amends, he goes back home and heads straight for the liquor- the good stuff. Relishing in what will be his last taste, he then steps in front of the stained glass window and removes his lifesaving ring.

Burning, burning, tackled. Stefan knows the end result of a werewolf bite, but he won't let his brother give up just yet. He throws Damon in the cellar, and then gets on the phone with the one person who's always down for a fight. "Sorry, you've reached someone who is currently not operating." The teacher is drunk. Carrying on like this at The Grill is not going to settle well with the school board! And, Matt, surprisingly, is nowhere to be seen. However, upon hearing the situation, Alaric sobers up. "What do you need?"

"Help me save my brother."
Stefan seeks out Bonnie so that she can channel the witches and ask for the cure to a werewolf bite. Emily speaks through her, denying Stefan's request and making Bonnie feel as if she's abusing her powers. A hundred witches may have disagreed with Stefan on changing his brother's fate and punishment, but they all agreed on one thing, one name: Klaus.

At the park outside of The Grill, the folks of Mystic Falls bring their blankets and what have you to the screening of Gone with the Wind. Caroline, Elena, and Jeremy are among them and eager to put their supernatural concerns on hold for the day. "Despite of everything, we persevere!"

Stefan arrives to ensure that this doesn't happen. He breaks the pertinent news to Elena who instantly feels guilty for giving Damon a cold shoulder earlier. Stefan encourages her to go speak with him and give him positive support. He's on a mission to find Klaus, who may have the answer to curing Damon. "I owe it to him to find it."

Niklaus at the moment is bare in the woods. He's just woken up from his first werewolf transformation, which proves he can change at will. Elijah is there to provide him with garments and remind him of his promise. "Where are they?" Klaus is still on a high from his experience; relishing in the fact that he can remember every kill. "I've been cleaning up your mess along the way." This apparently is habit for the brothers. A new habit of Klaus's will be gloating and reassuring that he will always have the upper hand because of his active hybrid genetics.
"If you can't, I'll find someone else who will."
Nearby, Carol Lockwood, primped and proper, makes a visit to Sheriff Forbes at the Police Station. She's not pleased with the Sheriff's progress on the vampire situation, and rebukes her for her lazy ways. The new mayor's definitely got a fire in her eyes; let's just hope it doesn't get reckless.

In a cell at the Elena Gilbert Brooding House, Damon is having hallucinations of 1864. "Is it so wrong for me to want you both?" He stands admiring Katherine, but is interrupted when Elena steps into the picture pointing out the lack of Katherine's sincerity. Still, his memory remains intact- he chooses Katherine.

Alaric decided to tear himself away from the bar just in time to share a drink with his pal. Damon realizes that Stefan sent Alaric while he's out being a hero. "Trying to right the wrongs of the past." Damon begins provoking Alaric so that he will put an end to his misery by way of a stake through the heart. Reaching through the bars and choking Alaric's neck, he begs him. Alaric sticks him with vervain and Damon falls back, calling out to Elena as he stumbles to ground.

Speaking of the
doppelgänger, she's just pulling up to the house. Unfortunately, Sheriff Forbes intercepts and her squad carry Elena away to the Police Station. Sheriff Forbes proceeds to the basement to a room where she finds Alaric holding a blood bag. She locks him in, at gunpoint, and despite the warnings and protests coming from Alaric, she enters into the cell.

Now, as she lay on the floor after being tossed and slammed into the wall by Damon, in hindsight, she should've took heed to Alaric's advice.

Good fortune allows Alaric to find reception, and he calls to update Jeremy who's at the movie with Bonnie and Caroline. The girls want to take on the task of finding Elena, and Bonnie tells him to stay safely out of the action. He tells her to shove it, more or less.

"You are just shy of useless."
Stefan has found Katherine, restless, at Klaus HQ. Her complaints about being sealed in are cut short upon the arrival of Klaus and Elijah. At the moment, Klaus won't hear Stefan's needs because he has an obligation to his brother which begins with a stake through his heart. It takes everything in Elijah to fight the inevitable. (Well played by Daniel Gillies!)

Stefan's turn for torture. He, too, is stabbed, but not to death. As Katherine looks on, patiently holding in her concern, Klaus is proving to Stefan who has the dominant hand. "Make me a deal. Just give me the cure, and I'll do whatever you want." Careful what you ask for, dear, because Klaus has big plans for you. You just have to pass this little test first. Drink.

Klaus isn't interested in present day Stefan. He wants The Ripper. And to drag it out of him, he'll make him and offer he can't refuse. Calling Katherine to his side, he infects her with a lethal werewolf bite. Then, forces her to drink his blood which cures her instantly. "Gotta love Mother Nature." Now, Klaus bargains his blood to cure Damon, and in return wants Stefan on a decade long bender. For Damon, Stefan agrees. After bag #2 I'm wondering if Elena's blood has strengthened him for such resistance. After bag #20, I'm not too confident.
"I don't want you to be afraid anymore."
Jeremy finds Damon stumbling around the movie area and takes him inside the vacant Grill. He calls Bonnie and Caroline to meet him, but Sheriff Forbes finds them. A shot is fired, Damon vamp speeds out of the building, leaving Jeremy to take the bullet. Bull's-eye.

She's calling for an ambulance as Caroline and Bonnie arrive. Caroline gives him blood against the confused protests from her mother. "I'm helping him!" It's too late. He's dead. Alaric enters and Bonnie directs him to carry Jeremy. They're going to consult the witches for help. Unfortunately, the witches aren't interested. Perhaps they find her too needy? "Well he's just a kid, tell them to shut up!" Bonnie cries out to them during her spell, and shares her heart with her ancestor. "I love him." Jeremy's resuscitated, but there will be consequences.

Back at The Grill, Caroline and her mother have a truce. This was a long time coming, but how will this affect the Sheriff's work on the Secret Council?

"I made the wrong choice."
Elena locked in an office, makes a break for it. Literally. The glass is that insubstantial? Oh, well. More importantly, Damon and Elena find each other among the crowd of people at the movie. Damon is lost in another flashback where he's chasing Katherine. He's got her pinned between a tree; Katherine breaks the skin of her neck, drawing blood, and invites him to drink. Elena's screaming, because in reality Damon has bitten her neck.

Across town, Klaus decides that Stefan has proved his candidacy, and tells Katherine to take the bottle of his blood to Damon. Realizing that she's free from bondage, she's out before he can get through his next sentence. Will she take it to Damon, or find the first flight out of Dodge? Stefan's concerned, but Klaus- shrugs- could care less. Classic.

Safely tucked in bed, Damon apologizes for all of is brutal characteristics. But Elena reassures him that she cares for him just the way he is- with a kiss. Thoughtful, but not passionate. As he lay dying, he thanks her. "Well, it's me you should be thanking." Katherine chimes in. She brought Klaus's blood; she owed Damon, after all. After sharing with them Stefan's deal with the Original, she passes a little advice over to her doppelgänger: "It's OK to love them both. I did."

Her other love has just sealed his doom. In a warehouse with Klaus, and his entire traveling coffined family, Stefan passes his final test. He takes the life of an innocent girl. The difference between this kill and his last encounter with Amber ("Miss Mystic Falls", Ep 1.18) is he appears more controlled. It's not a struggle the way it was when he first fell off the wagon, which could mean he's ready to embrace this fate, or he's playing a role with Klaus like Katherine had.

Sleep in peace the day is done.

Alaric finds Jeremy expressing to Bonnie via video-chat that he feels a little off. But he thanks her for saving him. He also thanks Alaric who response mocks Bonnie's: "You can thank me tomorrow. And the day after that. And the day after that..." Alaric said he was going to take off, but realizes he should probably stay with the kid who just came back from the dead. That, and he really has nowhere else to go.

As they rest, something stirs Jeremy. Thinking that it's Alaric, he goes downstairs to investigate. What he finds is unexpected and shocking. Hello, Anna. Hello, Vicki.

New Interview w/ Kevin Williamson via PopWrap: The Fate of Season 3

There were a few story-lines resolved by the Season 2 finale, but one that is still on everyone's thoughts is the sight of Jeremy being caught between two of his dead ex-girlfriends.
"I’m very excited about [the Anna and Vicki] storyline in particular. Right now I hope fans see it as a big question mark, because it should be." -KW

Next season there are several places we can pick up, we don’t have to start right where we left off this time... [O]ne of the big things that’s going to happen next year – this family of originals. We’re going to find out who they are, what they’re about, how The Salvatore’s are intertwined with them – Klaus took Stefan for a reason. There’s a big story here." -KW

Kayla Ewell Talks Vicki's Return with TV Line "It was crazy to get that script and read it."

Kayla Ewell who made her shocking return on the season 2 finale of Vampire Diaries spoke with Meg Masters about Vicki's comeback to Mystic Falls, hopes for next season, and more. Read full interview here.

TVLINE | How did you approach playing Vicki this time around? It was such a mysterious scene, and you were given very little knowledge of what exactly was going on.

It definitely took me a second to figure out what I wanted to do. I had a bunch of different options in my head, and the one that I ultimately decided on I’d actually like to keep to myself, just so I can wait and see if it comes true or not. [Laughs] One of things that makes our job as an actress so fun is that we’re able to explore and create something out of nothing — which is essentially what we had to do. It was challenging, but also really fun at the same time.

Kat Graham Talks Season 2 Finale with PopWrap and MTV Hollywood Crush

Kat Graham talks to PopWrap and Hollywood Crush about tonight's season finale. Check out some snippets below and read full interviews at link provided.

PopWrap

PW: What are you excited about fans seeing in tonight's finale?

Kat: I think people are convinced that the finale is going to be about “let’s see who dies next!” and that’s not really the right perspective to have when watching the finale. You should be more concerned with the decisions that will be made, the outcome of those decisions and how they’re going to effect every single character. I think a good decision can be just as powerful as a bad decision, and both are more powerful than a death. The big death was Aunt Jenna and I think that’s oversaturating the audience with a sense of death, but that’s not what this show is about – "Vampire Diaries" is about second chances and choices and what you’re willing to sacrifice when you really love someone. That’s what I think the show is about. I think death is a very surface aspect of the show.

MTV Hollywood Crush

"I don't even necessarily think that the biggest problem Bonnie has in the season finale is Damon's werewolf bite," she revealed. "And I'm not saying that to be cruel. I'm saying Bonnie has an even bigger problem than that if you can imagine. If she's asking for help, it must be a really big reason."

Daniel Gillies Interview Round-Up!

Daniel Gillies (@mrholymonster) chatted with EW, The TV Chick, and Chicago Tribune about Elijah, season finale, relationship with Elena and more. Read snippets below and check out links for full interview.

Entertainment Weekly

When we chatted in January, we had a great conversation about who you’d love to see play Klaus. Any suggestions you’d like to share for members of Elijah’s family?

Oh, man. We can dig up some of those old names. I loved that you printed that…. I must say that Joseph Morgan [who was ultimately cast as Klaus] wasn’t impressed when he came to set. He gave me a punch on the arm and was like, “Jonathan Rhys Meyers?! Ian McShane?!”

The TV Chick

So it wasn’t wrong that I picked up on feelings he might have for her?

Yeah, I mean it’s just so natural. If you saw somebody who was just under threat all the time and was making these really brave decisions, and was doing things that [you] wouldn’t possibly have the courage be able to do, the bravery of her — I think he’s seduced by her, in spite of himself. Nobody’s got better restraint than Elijah, but I think that she’s just completely enchanting. Everybody’s behaving predictably around him, but I think she’s the only one who really places the experience and value of others before her own. You could say the same thing with Stefan. I think he has a degree of respect for Stefan. But Damon, not so much.

Chicago Tribune

Speaking of procreating, should Klaus and the hybrids be allowed to date werewolves, vampires, humans or only other hybrids?

[Laughs.] I think they can date whomever the hell they want. As long as there is consent, they can date whomever.

TV Guide and Hollywood Life Vampire Diaries' Season Two Finale Scoop!

I can't believe that the end of such an epic season is tonight. Of course, numerous interviews that tease what's going to happen are surfacing. Hollywood Life chats briefly with Kat and Daniel. Read full story here.

“You’ll see him in the finale,” Daniel promises, but unfortunately he can’t tell us whether the “bodies” mentioned in last week’s episode have the potential to return as vampires. “That’s a question even Elijah couldn’t answer. “We just don’t know yet.”

TV Guide's Robyn Ross talks to Executive Producer Julie Plec about tonight's episode. Read full article here.

What will Stefan do to try to save Damon?

Plec: Stefan ended the previous episode saying, "I am not going to let you die. I will find a cure." And, of course, there is no cure. So that's going to be complicated for Stefan, who feels very responsible for his brother as a result of having been the one who really pushed being a vampire on him in the first place. He also feels responsible for the fact that Damon now believes his wrongs led to his death — that it's karmic retribution — and Stefan is basically saying, "I don't accept that because if I accept that this is your karmic retribution, then this is my fault to begin with." So Stefan sets out on a pretty intense journey to figure out if there's any way to save his brother and ... it's a really harrowing experience for him. His own life is put in peril as a result of wanting to do anything he can to save Damon.

Daniel Gillies Talks to PopWrap About Season Finale "I think there’s always a degree of a caution with him."

Daniel Gillies talked to New York Post PopWrap about Klaus' intentions, season finale, vampire competition, and more. Read full article here.

PopWrap: What did you think of Elijah's decision to betray everyone and rescue Klaus?

Daniel Gillies: The whereabouts of his family is the thing he’s been in pursuit of for centuries, so it was one of the most difficult decisions he’s ever had to make. I thought it was a wonderful culmination of his history and really, really approved of his actions. Well, it's not about whether or not I approve, but I really enjoyed playing it because seeing the susceptibility of a guy who seems so bulletproof was fascinating. To see him so conflicted was one of the moments that makes the show really special. I love that we don’t behave the way people want us to.

TV Guide Talks with Executive Producer Julie Plec About Season Finale, Jenna's Death, and More!

In part one of the exclusive interview, the lovely Robyn Ross from TV Guide spoke with Julie Plec about Jenna's death, season finale, Matt/Tyler/Caroline triangle and more. Read full entire interview here.

The penultimate episode was epic, how can the finale compare?
Plec: The last episode was clearly the season finale of our mythology storyline. We went all out and that was as deliberate choice knowing that the story we wanted to tell in our season finale is actually the emotional resolution of the season. We also want to really give the audience a window to where we're going in Season 3, a taste of what the series is going to be like as we move forward.
The second part of the interview will be posted tomorrow, we'll update when it's up.

My Love/Hate Relationship w/ "The Sun Also Rises" by Danielle DuCré + Link

Love/Hate

I had a love/hate relationship towards this episode. It left me pissed off. Was that the point? I felt like we were just cleanin' house with all of the deaths. Granted Jenna was pretty much MIA since Season One, but now the only parental figures we have are the ditzy Mayor, Carol Lockwood, and the "It's a V5," Sheriff Forbes. All we need is for Kelly Donovan to come back so we can snap her neck and get it over with.

Season 3 will probably bring in another Gilbert, but they probably won't effectively improve Elena and Jeremy's school attendance record. Oh well.

"Matt take my hand."
So Caroline and Matt are able to get away from vampire hungry Tyler. He's been shot by Matt, and Caroline vamp-speeds them outta there! That, I loved.

Hated. Matt is in survival mode and has lost all his compassion! Just layin' it out for Caroline: "I don't think she knows what to do with you." Well, could you break it to her any less harsh! Now, Matt is going to be the only one out of the sandbox friends to not accept the supernatural. But he knows, so for how long can he distance himself, especially from Elena?

Love that Damon doesn't have "Renew friendship with Katherine" on his bucket list. Still, "Somehow you're the only one that wins" is too relevant which means someone else is going to have to play her death card. I hate that this means we lose another core character! "Oh God, he killed me." And I really hate that it's going to be Sara Canning's character- we didn't get to see full range of her amazing acting chops!
"My duty is to Klaus. The new order."
I hate Greta. So what that she's working for the Original hybrid, her powers aren't as cool as Bonnie's. She's got Elena in a ring of fire, force feeds Jenna her blood (which I hate that Jenna didn't event attempt to get away or fight back) then puts her in a ring of fire, and, lastly, poor Jules whose body is tearing at itself. I never cared for Jules, but that just seems painful!

It's just horrible that the situation is bleak. "I failed you." Oh, well, here we go... Jenna's giving her goodbye speech.
"Well, that's my brother for you. Always cleaning up my messes."
Stefan making a deal with the devil, I didn't hate so much. I agree with Elijah, "You're very honorable." Gotta love Stefan for stepping up to the plate!

Gotta love that we're watching Steven McQueen grow up on screen. Is his voice deeper? He definitely stands taller. I'm starting not to hate that the writers paired Jeremy and Bonnie together. And, Bonnie's being very protective over him. She doesn't allow him to join them in the plan to destroy Klaus. She gives him a kiss of sleep- loved that little spell- and leaves him with Uncle John.

The gang's headed out to Stevens Quarry, but they leave Alaric behind. Since when?! This whole season they've sent him into danger without a blink, but now they force him to stay put? I know he doesn't have a lifesaver ring, but this seems odd.

"Take care of each other, please."
I love that Elena is able to coach Jenna through her transition. Because of her super vamp hearing, she's able to hear Stefan's plea to take her place. Of course, when she get's the chance to run, as previously directed by Elena, she goes and bites the neck of Greta! I hate that she forgot about her super vamp strength because she should've snapped her neck! Now, she's dead with a stake through her heart, Stefan's paralyzed with a stake through his back, and Elena's still in the ring o' fire!

Klaus thanks his meal before devouring Elena to her death. Once she drops and he begins his transformation, Bonnie comes with the strength of a hundred witches! Take that Greta! Oh and Damon, wolf bite or not, he's not going to let his younger brother perish. Snaps Greta's neck (Love!), and takes Elena to safe keeping while Bonnie, Elijah, and Stefan take care of the rest.

"Sometimes there's honor in revenge."
Really, Elijah?! Once he learns that his family members may still be recovered, he can't go through with killing his hybrid brother. And despite Bonnie's threats, he and Klaus get away. Gaaah!

Love that Elena survives, even though I think the spell was a stretch. Love that Uncle John drops dead- after leaving a sweet letter and lifesaver ring first, of course.

Hate that Damon has a wolfbite, Jeremy is an orphan, Matt's got a 'tude. But love that Caroline and Tyler are going to be reeeally good friends. Is Tyler dressed under that blanket?!

And I hate that this was the episode before the season finale, because what the heck is gonna happen in "As I Lay Dying" !!?? Oh my gosh...

Nina Dobrev Interview with PopWrap "It effects Stefan more than anyone would have imagined."

Nina Dobrev talked with New York Post PopWrap about season 2, new projects, setting up season 3, and more. Read full article here.

PW: Typically last week's episode would have been the finale, but this week's ender looks to be just as extreme, but in a less action-y way.
Nina: That’s true. The finale has a very different kind of intensity to it – last year was twists and turns that you just didn’t expect. This year is more dramatically intense than physically given the severity of what happens. I remember the feeling of watching last year. Of being so completely blown out of the park and being so stricken by it. I have not seen the finale, so I don’t know what my reaction will be, but we’re the “Vampire Diaries,” you know it’s going to be crazy.

Sara Canning Interview Round-Up: RIP Jenna

Jenna may have not been the best guardian or cautious door opener, but she over time became a lovable character that just wanted to finish school. Unfortunately, in this week's episode of Vampire Diaries she met her taker for the first time, Klaus. The kill scene was so dramatic and the single tear flowed down her face while Elena screamed in the ring of fire. I feel so bad for Alaric as he's becoming the new Jeremy. I can only hope that if Matt Davis returns next season the success in the relationship department will be a little higher. Check out a few exit interviews with Sara Canning below:

TV Line
How do you feel about how Jenna died? Do you think it was an honorable way for her to go?

I think so. It was a little sudden, but besides that, I wanted to wrap what Jenna meant in the show as best I could in the amount of time that was left for the character. We’ve seen her in the past few episodes realize that a lot had been hidden from her; she hadn’t been protecting Elena and Jeremy as well as she thought she had been. Granted, she wasn’t given the chance to do so because she was kept in the dark about what was going on, but what was nice about Jenna’s final act was that it was her piecing the puzzle together when she went to kill Greta. The absolute last thing she could do was throw a wrench in the sacrifice plan. It was very perceptive on her part to realize that the witch was an important cog in Klaus’ wheel, and that she needed to take her out — even though she wasn’t successful. [Laughs]

MTV
Hollywood Crush: Please humor us while we do our due diligence. "The Vampire Diaries" is known for its unexpected twists and turns. Is there any way Jenna isn't dead?

Sara Canning: No. She's dead. I think that by them showing her funeral, they kind of were hoping to just make a nice book ending there—just to give Elena that chance to grieve her last parental figure. Well, Jenna and John, actually. As of right now, she's dead. I've moved away from Atlanta. So Jenna's dead.

Zap2It
You don't find out that your character is about to die by reading a script, right? Did you have a meeting with the producers?

I found out before getting the script. It was a difficult conversation. Julie [Plec] was very kind and let me know that the character meant a lot to them, and she kind of went from there. It wasn't really drawn out, she was just very honest with me, and that was sort of that. I think that's how things happen with "The Vampire Diaries" because things change so quickly and there are all kinds of plot twists. We were all aware at the start that there were no guarantees.

TV Fanatic Exclusive Interview with Zach Roerig "I’m not sure if he knows Caroline would never hurt him. "

TV Fanatic chatted with Zach Roerig about his love for Caroline, odds of surviving, and more. A snippet of the funny interview is below, read the rest here.

If Caroline and Matt don’t make it, who would be Matt’s next love interest?

I don’t know if Matt would have a love interest, he’d need to take some time to heal. If anyone, perhaps Sheriff Forbes. Then he could become a deputy! He appreciates her assertiveness. She’s a strong woman. Or Tyler’s mom!

Nina Dobrev Teases Last Two Episodes with Entertainment Weekly+New Promotional Photo

Nina Dobrev chats with EW's Mandi Bierly about the last two episodes of season two. She talks about Jenna's transition, Damon, and more. Check out full story here.
Aunt Jenna (Sara Canning), who’s in transition and will become a vampire if she drinks human blood, will go through hell either way. So will Elena. “Jenna will have to make the choice, and Elena will have to sit there and watch her go through this terrible thing. When you think about it, Jenna found out that vampires existed and then become one in, like, a day. And now she’s fighting all these different emotions because when you’re a vampire, all your senses are heightened — the feeling for love, and regret, and sadness, and pain,” Dobrev says. “The one thing Elena has been fighting so hard to achieve all season is to protect her friends and her family, and now she’s in this circumstance where she’s very vulnerable and helpless and she has to sit there like a spectator and watch those around her die knowing that she’s basically next.”

Joseph Morgan Chats with The TV Chick, Buddy TV, and PopWrap "It’s the most ambitious episode they’ve ever done."

Joseph Morgan who plays Klaus talked to The TV Chick, New York Post PopWrap, and Buddy TV about Klaus, tonight's episode, and more. Check out snippets below and visit sites for full interviews.

The TV Chick

Well Klaus is all about self interest, so…
Yeah, absolutely. (laughs) Maybe I should have tried that! I think you want to do the part justice and do the fans justice. I’m just obviously having such a fantastic time doing it, that it’s tempting to just disappear inside that bubble.

NY Post PopWrap

PW: In talking about expectations earlier, it's no secret that this sacrifice has been a major plot point since season one -- do you think fans will be pleased with how it plays out?

Joseph: Yes. That said, with the fans you have all these different teams. People who want different outcomes depending whether they’re on Team Stelena or Delena. To some degree everyone wants something different, so it’s hard to say “yes” across the board. But the direction the show takes is one of the most interesting it could have taken. I think although people will be shocked and, in some cases, upset – we know characters we love will die tonight – but at the end of this season, the show becomes bigger. The world is bigger and the avenues that open up are going to be ones that we’re excited to see these characters explore.

Buddy TV

About Continuing on the Show Beyond Season 2:

"I can't say either way, but I really hope so. It's been an amazing experience for me, doing the last few episodes of season 2. Characters have died and come back to the show in flashbacks or in other ways, so you know, I absolutely hope it's a longer run of it. Because you know, I'm just beginning to explore it."

*Spoilers*Michael Trevino talks with Latina Magazine about the last two episodes of season two, a big game changer, and more. Read full interview here. Thanks to Michael-Trevino Online for the heads up.

How much of Tyler will we get to see in the episode?

I'm not in the episode a whole lot, but the two scenes are very important to the journey that Tyler has in the future in Mystic Falls and it has to do with the trio (Tyler, Matt and Caroline). It's big! it opens up a new door. There's a new window of opportunity there.

IHTVD RECAP + Link: "The Last Day" by Danielle DuCré

Previously on The Vampire Diaries...catch up here.

The. Stakes. Are. Raised. So many new theories and the players are invested in the game. Oh where, oh where do I start?!

"If he breaks it, he will be a true hybrid."
At the EGBH, Elijah explains to Elena and Stefan that the final act of the ritual is draining the blood of the doppelgänger- 'til death. But, he has a remedy for that. A 500 year old elixir that was initially intended for Katherine. Damon, making an entrance, opposes the elixir proposal. I mean, 500 years? Either it's grown mold or that's a really long shelf life!

He still believes Bonnie is the best bet. "I'll write her a great eulogy." But Elena won't allow it. Looking to Stefan, he receives no assistance. Stefan's made his vow to allow Elena to act of her own free will. Therefore, if she's going to trust Elijah, he has to accept that. His reasoning is that of all people to put his faith in, he'll put it in the person who put her faith in him first. Damon's finds this logic idiotic. "I'm surrounded by idiots, I need all the help I can get."
"Jenna, put the crossbow down!"
There truly is a trust between Elijah and Elena. "There's a possibility this elixir won't work; I don't want to mislead you." Last week, the flashback scenes showed Elijah having some sort of admiration for Katherine. I'm eager to learn more of that, especially since he's built such an understanding with Elena, now. So, is it possible for Bonnie to do a spell check to see if the mixture is still potent? What exactly is this concoction, and will it give Elena magic blood like her book character?

Theories, theories. We'll just have to wait and see.

Besides, Alaric's about to get shot. By Jenna. He proves himself to be...himself...by recalling a Chunky Monkey experience with Jenna which gains awkward looks from everyone. Obviously the previews following last week's episode prevented Alaric's life status from being too much of a cliffhanger. But I'm glad he's back. Though, not too sure he's glad to have been saved to deliver such a devastating message: "The sacrifice happens tonight."

Shocked that Klaus just
let Alaric go, he gives them an explanation and learns the havoc that occurred the past 3 days.
"It's my life, Damon. My choice."
Damon's absent from the party so Elena goes upstairs to find him. She needs him to understand her motives. "I can't lose you." Within 2.5 seconds he's acting on his solution- forcing Elena to drink his blood. Stefan arrives to throw him off, but it's too late. It's in her system. "How could you of all people take that choice away from her?" A serious brawl breaks out and ends with a wooden table leg in Stefan's abdomen. Alaric directs Jenna to bring a blood bag for Stefan. (She's diving into this supernatural business head first!) He'll recover, but will Elena? According to Elijah, eternity is a long time to wait for forgiveness. "She'll never forgive you."

"Please, Tyler, come home."
Maddox is compelling Ms. Lockwood to draw her son out of hiding. From her house phone she leaves him a message saying that she's had a terrible accident and is in the hospital. In order to make good on her word, Maddox charms her off the second floor balcony.

Across town, Caroline finds Matt at...The Grill.
They make plans to meet in one hour during his lunch break. As soon as Caroline leaves, he joins Sheriff Forbes at a table. How long has she been sitting there? Not long enough to upset the Mystic Falls taxpayers apparently. "I'm putting on the best show of my life, either she is too, or she is still the same Caroline." Matt is smart! No matter how confusing all of this is, he's still not able to take the supernatural at face value. But, he does suggest one thing, and that is to go after Damon. Sheriff Forbes realizes that she can't involve Matt any longer and dismisses him from his undercover duties.

Being the sweet girl that she is, Caroline decides to visit Ms. Lockwood in the hospital while she waits. As she approaches, Tyler and Jules are leaving. Jules leaves them to exchange salutations. "I left for a reason, Caroline." Tyler didn't explain why he left in the first place, and doesn't want to explain now. He turns to leave but Caroline, unsatisfied, follows him. Unfortunately, Klaus's muscle take them down. Maddox holds an aneurysm spell over them while Greta vervains Caroline.

"I screwed up."
Back at The Grill, Matt is leaving a message for Caroline who is late for their date. He stresses that they need to talk. As serious as his voice is, he's probably ready to tell her about the research he's been doing for her mom. He ends the call abruptly as he sees Damon walk in and sit at the bar.

Alaric joins him. These brothers have the blues, and a nice British accent inquiries as to why. Klaus. After thanking Alaric for the rental, he leaves with a warning for the man who fancies his doppelgänger. "If you want to live to see tomorrow, don't screw it up."

If Alaric didn't know any better, Damon's about to screw it up. Again. The wheels are turning as he tries to find a reason for Elena not to hate him, say by taking Klaus's werewolf out of the equation. "I think it won't matter because you'll be dead." Alaric is so go-with-the-flow that he agrees to help. This is gonna be
badass.

First stop, Alaric's. After an invite, Damon's jaunty step takes him right into Katherine's prison. He's come to collect information on the whereabouts of Klaus's werewolf, and learns that it's Caroline and Tyler who are to be sacrificed. Katherine warns him about the horror that Klaus will inflict on his life- like he did hers many moons ago- and he warns her that she'll be competing with Elena for Stefan's affection for eternity. Answer: Tomb.

At this point, Damon's plan is to delay the ritual, but the moon's light is approaching.

"I don't want to be a vampire, Stefan. I never wanted to be one."
Elena woke up thinking that it may be her last day of living, by noon she learned that she'd live forever. They've never talked about the possibility of eternal life, and Stefan wants to reassure her that although it's inevitable now, she can still express her concerns. "I just want you to know that it's OK to tell me." They spend the day hiking, talking about the pros and cons of vampiric living. Elena's still not ready to talk about it. She doesn't want to hurt Stefan with the words that express her true feelings. They climb.

Beautiful scenery stretches out before them. First a waterfall, then a view from the top of the mountain. Stefan knows that the sun will set soon, and that this is her opportunity to let go. Telling her that if it were up to him, he'd want to be with her forever. Elena's puzzled; he's never mentioned this before. "Because if I knew it was an option you would've." Wow. I wonder how deeply this bothered him. Has Stefan been looking at their relationship with an expiration date, or just patience and hope?

As he tells her that Damon's actions were out of love, I'm not sure if she realizes the significance of him being in love with her. The only time Damon sincerely expressed it, he compelled her to forget. She does, however, recognize that she’s only 17 which can play a major part in her lax acceptance. Elena knows the future is inevitable and doesn’t want to hurt Stefan with her feelings of despair, but the emotions climaxed with the climb. The hurt over not being able to make choices in her life, from children to growing old, flood out of her in speech and tears. Stefan, supporting her throughout.

“Tell me what you’ve been doing.”

Klaus returns to find Katherine pouring a cup of brew. His super Original senses are triggered and he compels Katherine to fess up. The vervain saves her from reporting Damon’s visit. Still, just to be sure, he tells her to remove her charmed bracelet and stand in the sunlight from the window. Sizzle now, live tomorrow. Finally satisfied, Klaus gives her a task.

Underground, in the tomb, Caroline and Tyler sit chained. “Tyler, you shouldn’t have come back here.” She explains the situation of the curse, Klaus, and their impending doom. No better time than the present to resume their conversation outside of the hospital. “Why did you leave me?” Tyler clarifies his reason for leaving and what he’s been learning from Jules.

Above ground, Damon has arrived to save the day. However, every hero has their challenge and this time it’s Maddox. Lucky for Damon, someone just shot Maddox in the back. MATT!! Lucky for Matt, his reward is an upgrade from death- being knocked unconscious. No good deed goes unpunished.

By the time Damon frees both Caroline and Tyler per her protest “Don’t make me forget this,” the sun has gone down. (I guess gradual transition was left on the floor of the editing room.) As they make their way out of the woods, Damon receives a phone call. “Saving the day, figured you’d understand.” It’s Stefan, terrified and nervous.

“Close your eyes.”

When Stefan and Elena arrived home, Klaus was there to collect his doppelgänger. Stefan stands in front of her in protest. One threat from Klaus and Elena steps into motion. “There’s no reason for you to get hurt.” Kisses and I love you’s are shared, then Stefan closes his eyes on his worst nightmare.

Upon learning that Klaus has Elena, Damon is ready to go all out. One problem. So is Tyler. Caroline is trying to comfort him, while Matt stands shocked and confused. His transition is happening fast and he lunges at Caroline. Damon tackles him midair, getting bit in the struggle. Now, Tyler, he told you not to make him regret letting you go!

Damon insists he’s fine and orders Caroline and Matt to go lock themselves in the Lockwood cellar. He leaves, and Tyler fully transitions into a wolf. Tracking his friends down, will the locked chain hold him out? If it does, Matt and Caroline are going to have a night of serious conversation…

“It was all me.”

Surprising Klaus at his headquarters, Damon confesses to all his actions, sans giving Elena blood. With his confidence, he is trying to save his brother and friends from being harmed. Although bothered, Klaus doesn’t seem worried. He shares with Damon the importance of a backup plan: Greta, witch; Jules, werewolf; and Damon, vampire. Then, tackles Damon unconscious.

When Damon finally comes to, with the help of Katherine, he learns his werewolf bite garnered him useless to Klaus. So, why keep Damon alive? Perhaps allowing him to suffer is his punishment for crossing Klaus. Problem for tomorrow because Katherine reveals there’s another player involved. “He made me call her to lure her out.”

Who?

Greta is dragging Elena to the ritual grounds. Small talk or Elena’s thoughtful nature forces her to share with Greta that her family was looking for her. I never had much compassion for the Martin warlocks, but the fact that Greta doesn’t even care that they died puts her on a whole other level. “I wasn’t lost.”

Elena has some sort of confidence. She never said goodbye to her loved ones in case the ritual, or transition, went awry. But she’s not alone now as she realizes Jenna lay immobile on the ground in front of her. According to Greta she’s in transition. Into?

A vampire.

For the sake of the show, we know that if the ritual happens, Elena will become a vampire. But will she choose it, or will it be forced on her- and by who? Is Uncle John on vacation? Will Matt and Caroline come to an accord and help their friends stop the sacrifice? Will Damon survive long enough for Elena to forgive him? Will Jenna complete the transition? Share your OMG moments and theories below, then find me, Danielle DuCré on Twitter
