Ausiello: Then prepare to love this season’s final string of episodes, which exec producer Julie Plec tells me will be heavily focused on the pair. “We’ll see Damon start to look at Elena as more than just his brother’s girlfriend or the doppelganger to the love of his life,” she reveals. “He’ll start to love and understand her as a human being, which is ironic because Damon could typically give a s–t about anything involving humanity. It’s some good stuff.”

David Anders, who (spoiler alert) permanently clocked out of 24 last night, has rebounded with a multi-episode arc on The CW smash, sources confirm to me exclusively.
The Alias and Heroes alum will play Elena and Jeremy’s uncle, Jonathan Gilbert, who comes to Mystic Falls to “cause some trouble,” teases an insider.
If that name sounds familiar, it’s because, well, it should. Johnathan Gilbert (yes, that’s with an “h”) is the name of Elena and Jeremy’s circa-1800 ancestor. Old school Johnathan debuted via flashback earlier this month as played by Joe Knezevich.
Look for Anders’ present-day Jonathan to turn up in April.
Thanks to VDO for the heads up!
Sorry, but I only have some good news for you Damon-Elena shippers: Stefan may get a taste of human blood again soon, which may change his personality a bit, and I can't imagine that goes over well with good girl Elena. Katherine, on the other hand, would love it, right? Also, you'll never guess whose body is going to be found? Vicki! So this means that (a) she really is dead and not coming back as boss Kevin Williamson told us and (b) Jeremy is so gonna find everything out, right? That has to be where all this is heading, given that he's realizing that there are vampires in Mystic Falls. The only question is: What will Damon do when he is found out? Shudder.

Rihanna and Vampire Diaries' actress Katerina Graham are the latest stars to adopt Hollywood's newest "trendlet": The curly bangs-and-hat combo. How cute is this? The perfect antidote to award seasons' fancy red carpet hairstyles, this casually fly look flatters both short and long hair (Katerina's loose curls hit her mid-back, and Rihanna...well, we have a feeling you're familiar with her cut).
The series receiving early renewals include this season’s breakout hit THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, The CW’s most-watched show (4.6 million viewers) and the network’s number one show among adults 18-34 (2.5/8). THE VAMPIRE DIARIES premiere generated the largest audience in network history for a series debut (5.7 million total viewers). THE VAMPIRE DIARIES has improved The CW’s performance Thursday at 8:00 p.m. by 114% among women 18-34 this season.

Nina Dobrev's character Elena on Vampire Diaries has made quite the impression on those who love fashion from her leather jackets to the jewelry. JSYK gives a little insight on why they think Elena's wardrobe is the best on TV!

“For that kind of success you need the right girl, and we certainly got lucky with casting Nina Dobrev,” Williamson says. Nina plays the beautifully tragic Elena, whose destiny is inescapably linked to the mysterious vampire siblings who come to the small town of Mystic Falls.
Completing the desirable trio, Paul Wesley (Fallen) plays the solemn swain Stefan, and Ian Somerhalder (Lost) is the older intense Damon, and plays him with badboy panache.
Williamson says the brothers’ conflict would not work without a strong female lead who is the object of both their desires, pure and unholy. “It is always hard to find that anchor. And if you look at the signature CW shows, you’ll always see that anchor girl.”Looking further ahead, if The Vampire Diaries has a really long run, Williamson jokes that his vampire actors might start to look older, and vampires aren’t supposed to age. “I have actually thought about that, and I’m pleased that, with modern technology, we’ll be able to correct that problem when we’re faced with it. We’ll just increase the special effects budget.”

Here's a some pics that have surfaced, I will add to the post as more become available. It was a crazy day with all the helicopter dramatics. Twitter was a buzz for sure. At least the whole cast was able to make it for the Q&A. They love their fans and we love them!! More pics here
Why is Bonnie’s grandmother, Sheila (Jasmine Guy), so young?A lot of people ask that. She’s a witch. She can make herself look younger. That’s why she looks so great.
Who are your closest friends in the cast?I’m close with all the girls. From the beginning of the show, when we started shooting, we just bonded. I saw Kayla [Ewell, Vicki] last night. She’s one of my good friends. Nina [Dobrov, Elena] and I obviously have the most scenes together so we spend the most time together because but we’re really close. She’s great.
Poor Bonnie has not had the best luck with love so far.
It’s not bad luck. I just don’t think she really cares. Most of this first season has been about finding herself and finding her strength and figuring out who she is. I think that’s important. I love that she has not had a boyfriend yet.
Within the Vampires Diaries universe, there are vampires, witches and werewolves. Why are witches the most awesome?
Witches have a moral standpoint. They don’t have barriers. Vampires have this self-battle they’re constantly dealing with, these cravings they can’t escape from. Witches don’t have that. Witches are more in control of their choices in terms of what they say and what they do. We can make stronger decisions quicker in a lot of ways than vampires because vampires turn into these animals, these hunters. Witches can plan more. But I also think vampires are stronger physically, so it’s kind of a give and take.

We don't often get all mushy and romantic over here at TWoP, but it's Valentine's week, the one time of the year when we do have a little bit of a heart. To take advantage of this momentary lapse of cynicism, we decided to spotlight the often underappreciated characters on TV who are really just amazingly wonderful guys we wish we were dating or (dare we dream) married to. If they actually existed, that is.Stefan (The Vampire Diaries)
